Events

Events and special days are wonderful and fantastic occasions.
Everyone wants to have a good time - and for photographers it's just as much fun.

Brewarrina V Walgett Koori Knockout

21 September 2019

Sometimes it just takes time to get around to photographs you've taken.

I was visiting friends out West and they had a surprise for me: an outing to the Koori Knockout in Walgett.

I had a great time.  There was a fantastic atmosphere and huge crowds.

Well done to everyone who participated and ran the whole day. When the current pandemic is over I'll be back to see it all again.

Slapjack
The Moshpit, Erskineville
January 2020

Absolutely fantastic funk! A brawling, in-your-face, band and singer.
If you like driving funk, a blaring horn section and attitude to burn, you really should go and see Slapjack.
The band is from Newcastle but they also play in Sydney.
Their Facebook page is here.  You can see more photos on my Flickr page here.

LaHi (Laura Higgins)
Moshpit, Erskinville
January 2020

This was a seriously wonderful, quirky, idiosyncratic performance at the Moshpit in Erskinville on 18 January 2020. It was a great way to start the year.
The complete collection of photos from the night (in high resolution) are available here.

Laura is available for weddings, parties, events and I'd certainly recommend her.
If you want someone who is memorable, engaging and entertaining you can find her here. You can listen to some of her recordings here.

The Rightful Loners
at The Garry Owen
December 2019

I went to this fantastic gig on 7 December 2019 in Rozelle at the Garry Owen Hotel.
Brilliant, raucous performance covering a range of hits with a dynamic, ballsy, lead singer.

If you want some energetic, get-into-it live music, get along to a gig or get them to come to you!

You can find The Rightful Loners Facebook page and upcoming gigs here.

More images are here on my Flickr page.

Supergroup at
The Garry Owen
December 2019

Also on 7 December 2019 in Rozelle at the Garry Owen Hotel was Supergroup.
Covering a range of 90s songs that I loved, Supergroup put on a tight, driving, sharp performance.
In small venues sometimes a thrashing volume is used to cover up sloppy timing or poor articulation of a song.
Supergroup showed they didn't need it. A great night!
